Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance (s/bf-HSG)
The s/bf-HSG (founding institute of the SoF-HSG) forms a focus centre within the framework of the HSG. It was founded in 1968 as the Institute of Banking and expanded in 1990 to become the Swiss Institute for Banking and Finance and the University of St.Gallen. Over the decades, the institute has undergone continuous grown and in Switzerland enjoys a reputation as a knowledge centre in the field of banking, finance and capital market research. Much of the work it has produced has also been recognised in the rest of Europe.
Institute for Operations Research and Computational Finance (ior/cf-HSG)
The core competencies of the ior/cf-HSG (founding institute of the SoF-HSG) are basic research and applied research of stochastic optimisation of management models and the simulation of market price dynamics. The implementation and realisation of the quantitative management models and methods that have been developed take shape in consulting and cooperation projects, mainly in the finance, energy and industrial sectors.
Institute for Insurance Economics (I.VW-HSG)
Prof. Dr. Martin Eling represents with his chair for insurance management the I.VW-HSG in the School of Finance. The I.VW-HSG (founded in 1949) is as an internationally accredited knowledge broker with knowhow in the field of risk and insurance management. We work interdisciplinary and cooperate in the context of research, consulting and executive education worldwide with financial services and insurance companies, universities and international organizations. Martin Eling cooperates with international partners on topics such as empirical insurance economics, microinsurance, regulation, and risk management. Moreover, he publishes on finance related topics, e.g. performance measurement and asset management.
St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG)
As a subsidiary of the University of St.Gallen, the SGI institutionalises the Singapore Hub. The SGI is active in research and teaching.
